The new chips bequeath be used in smart security cameras for consumers and industries, on with sports cameras, wearable cameras, VR, robotics and smart displays. The chips will bring home the bacon the equipment with decent computing power along with the ability to interpret images and run pre-trained machine learning models.

In a telephonic interview with XDA, Sashu Madhavapeddy, VP of Product Management at Qualcomm, said:

"it's ideally suitable for IoT segments that require a significant amount of edge computing and AI…We've been very active in these segments for a a few days now, [and] what we've been able to do is learn from those engagements, understand what the market really needs, and create a custom family of chipsets that directly prey those markets and are fit to deliver much greater performance."

In terms of specifications, the new chips include a powerful new image signal processor (ISP)- the Spectra 270, a Snapdragon processor, Qualcomm's Hexagon 685 Transmitter processor, and an Adreno 615 artwork processing unit. The Spectra 270 on the chips, which is a "stingy cousin" of the Spectra 280 ISP found connected the Snapdragon 845, is up to of load-bearing dual 16MP sensors and and a dual 14-bit processor, on with modern post- and real-metre processing capabilities. The chips are open of recording 4K video at 60fps surgery 5.7K at 30fps, operating room eightfold concurrent streams at lower resolutions.
